SD began by identifying ease of use as a key element for this site. Design options would have to be quickly "readable." One of the presented design concepts was executed in a dynamic, eye-catching retro style that integrated well with the existing typography and design aesthetic of other client artwork. Product emphasis results from use of duotone imagery on nonproduct visuals. This design concept was created with the goal of tailoring it to a complete campaign of print, broadcast and interactive materials. By contrast, SD's second concept presented a highly contemporary corporate sensibility using current photography in a fresh, image-based context. This design controls the visitor's focus, beginning with the promotional message and continuing with the "shopping list" navigation, which breaks down the site's key functions into quick, easily identified sections. Streamlined usability results from SD's dropdown menu structure as well, an essential part of all the design concepts presented.
